India : Randell Gomes launches saree & anarkali collection , January 10th, 2015

Goan Designer Randell Gomes has launched the new Spring collection of Indo-western fusion and pret range of hand-embroidered and embellished chikankari saree and anarkali collection, at his boutique in South Goa.

The Randell Gomes chikankari saree and anarkali collection incorporates intricate hand-work and embroidery including about 22 different styles or types of hand-embroidered chikankari stitch-work.

Chikankari is delicate and artfully done hand embroidery on a variety of textile fabrics like muslin, silk, chiffon, organza, net, etc. Lucknow is the heart of the chikankari industry today and the variety is known as lucknawi chikan.

The designer sarees give the wearer a very regale and classy appeal. They are all hand-embellished and hand-embroidered and contain exquisite hand work from different parts of India. The anarkali collection is value for money and is available in various sizes, designs, silhouettes, cuts and fits and even for the plus-sized, middle-aged woman, Gomes said.

The collection has three different ranges: the first is a high-end couture bridal collection, the second is a pret line, and the third is a casual wear party line.

An anarkali salwar suit is a form of women’s dress which has recently made its way back to the Indian fashion scene. The anarkali suit is made up of a long, frock-style top and features a slim fitted bottom.

Award-winning Kathak dancer, actress, and model Anjanaa Bhattacharya participated in the shoot at the launch of the new collection. (GK)
